Let me tell you about the Sunday customs I currently observe, as well as the ones I hope to adopt in the future.
The great thing about these customs is that they are manageable in small doses. Meaning that even if I have a terrible Sunday and don’t get any of them done, I can easily get back on track by doing them on Monday.

Preparing for a Successful Week with These Sunday Customs Take note:

Express gratitude.

Every night before I go to sleep, I make a brief list of just ten things for which I am thankful. No complete thoughts or even words. Just before the hectic week begins, this helps put things in perspective. When I find myself dwelling on irrelevant details or worrying about things outside of my control, this practice has proven especially useful.

Get your body moving for 15-30 minutes.

My current workout motto is “done, not perfect,” which is quite a change from my previous ones. Nothing more complicated than just getting up and moving around and working up a little sweat is required for me. I’ve made a simple workout plan for myself that I can follow. Even on the weekend, I try to exercise for at least fifteen to thirty minutes. I now routinely perform this action immediately upon arising.

Clean up the most sloppy spots.

Now when I tidy up on Sundays, instead of giving myself a comprehensive cleaning assignment like I used to, I focus on the areas that are causing me the most anxiety and focus solely on those. On Sunday, I finally admitted to myself that the condition of our main bathroom had reached an unacceptable level. The fifteen minutes I spent tidying up and putting things in their proper places made me feel fantastic.

Organize your upcoming week.

I don’t do this regularly on Sundays, but I’d love to start again. Most of us would benefit from setting aside a few minutes each week to make a deliberate plan for the upcoming week. All of my upcoming work and personal commitments are more easily identifiable thanks to this method of planning. By doing so, I am able to keep my most pressing goals in mind, even if the pace of the week picks up significantly.

Take some time to plan your meals.

Unfortunately, I’ve found that I’ve had to make more and more dinnertime decisions on the spur of the moment recently, and I really don’t like it. I need to get back into the routine of Sunday meal planning so that this doesn’t happen as often. Throughout the week, I will be relieved of both financial and mental burdens.
